Unfamiliar: I do not use much technology at all and would need help just getting started.
Competent (basic): I am aware of the importance of protecting my passwords and identity. I know about some basic online/email scams and how to avoid them, and I am aware of the risks of viruses. I have little experience of using social networking tools to any great extent and am not completely confident with regards privacy settings, etc.
Comfortable (intermediate): I am aware of the issues of online safety, including protecting my data and reputation. I use safety features such as anti-virus software and security settings on my devices and social media profiles.I am familiar with the basic requirements for data protection. I am careful and deliberate in my approach to sharing information with different groups and how I interact with others online.
Confident (advanced): I have an advanced understanding of security settings on my devices and am able to remedy problems that may arise, including dealing with malware, firewall settings, etc. I am aware of the issues of online behaviour and safety and am able to advise others on appropriate protection and behaviour. I can also advise on social media and reputation management. I would know how to recognise and respond to issues regarding ethical or unethical behaviour with regards to data and online interaction.
