Unfamiliar: I do not use much technology at all and would need help just getting started.
Competent (basic): I am able to use standard office type software, but not to an advanced level. I comfortably use browsers and the main software installed on my devices, but would not be confident in changing default settings, or modifying some of the main features. I would require training and support to extend the range of technologies I use.
Comfortable (intermediate): I am familiar with, and use, a wide range of digital technologies and have a reasonable grasp of standard jargon. I recognise different file types and the software required to open or edit them. I have an understanding of the basic mechanics of websites and the internet, and am generally able to solve standard problems/issues with the devices or technologies I use.
Confident (advanced): I am able to solve problems of a technical nature that may arise when using and configuring digital tools and technologies. I am able to select the right tool for a particular purpose, understanding how it might fit with other relevant systems and approaches. I keep myself up to date on emerging technologies and am able to advise others on strategies for technology implementation and purchase.
