Unfamiliar: I do not use much technology at all and would need help just getting started.
Competent (basic): I am familiar with using a number of digital communications tools such as Skype, text-messaging (SMS), and email. I am aware of blogs and social media, but do not use these routinely (except for friends/family communications on Facebook, etc.)
Comfortable (intermediate): I am comfortable using a range of tools for online collaboration, including sharing documents, video-conferencing and participating in webinars/online seminars. I use blogs and other platforms and tools, or social networks (including, eg., Twitter) for sharing ideas and facilitating discussion. I access and use streaming media (online video/audio) and am capable of extending the range of tools I can use, with some guidance and experimentation.
Confident (advanced): I actively participate in online discussion and collaborate with peers and others through a range of different tools and platforms. I have experienced running online forums and events, and would be familiar with the range of software tools needed for such. I would be able to advise others on strategy and on practical ways of effectively using digital technologies for collaboration and communicating and debating ideas.
